What ethical / legal issues need to be considered when implementing this database?

A Legal issue that needs to be considered when using this database is copyright. Copyright is an original work. When using works that are copyrighted means that they need to be given credit.

This is a legal issue that needs to be considered when using a database because Databases involve collecting information/data from different places. This information/data that we are collecting are not of our own work and we need to give credit to those sources. For our music database we are collecting pictures, music and information.

Images on my music database are not of my own work because the album cover or pictures are not of my own creation. This means that these images own to someone and mean that we have to give credit on where we got the image from. The images I used for the layout are not of my own creation so we need to give credit for using it or it is called ‘stealing’ because we are acting as if it is our own when its not.

Music used on my music database is not my own and is by the artist who sang and created the song. This means that the song needs to have who sang the song in a way of giving credit to the artist who created the song and not us or it will result into us using there music without credit. Also usually if we are borrowing music from an artist we are not to use the full length of the song due to ‘music piracy’ and we are to purchase the CD or pay to download music and the only way we can listen to music for free online is by the artist permission (sometimes artist on ‘myspace’ let viewers listen to the full song or sometimes just a demo)

Information on a database is very important because we are using information that is from sources that include websites, books, videos etc. We need to consider this because it is by someone else and not of our own work.

Privacy is information is private to a person, Meaning information by someone that is private. It is personal information that someone may or may not let anyone use.

On my Database it includes pictures, music and information that was of someone else’s work and I have including a ‘credits’ form to give credit to the places I got my information/data from due to copyright laws.
